Good propaganda to get Frau Helen voted into the top spot.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

You're joking right. NZ is a total rip off for day to day stuff. All of the items I mentioned are at least double the price I pay here even after the exchange rate is added in. A few years ago when the US dollar was stronger the NZ prices were not as noticeable but with an exchange rate close to 85 cents you really feel the hit in your pocket when visiting NZ. The research is from my personal observations. I was in NZ twice last year, Jan and Oct.

Geeze Guys, i think you're being a little hard on Godzone. Am a born and bred Kiwi and have experienced living in several other countries and still believe we have the best place in the world to live. Sure, some things are expensive compared to other countries but you have to remember that our population is extremely small compared to them and our geographical location also adds to the costs. This is a price worth paying for the lifestyles we enjoy.
Now if we could only cut down the bureaucracy that is starting to choke us it would be almost perfect.

I think you will find it depends on what part of the states you are.
I was in LA last September and most things were the same or a bit more.

But if you look at eating out it's the same price but the food tasted like shit and don't get me started on find a decent coffee.

Mobile data was so fucking slow, everyone expected a tip even if the service was shit, they put tax (and god knows how many or much it is) on after you look at the price, but you just keep on telling us how good it is there and we'll stay here were we know it is better.

ok consider this. Lets say you dragged your sorry arse overseas 10 odd years ago.

meanwhile here I think we've all noticed how much the shopping bill has gone up & power & other general services. The grocery cartels are pushing up prices of fresh food insanely whilst paying the same or less than they did for it 20 years ago (go ask a produce farmer if you can find one who hasn't lost he will to live).

Anyway lets say this aforementioned miserable bstd comes home for a visit, it would be more of a shock. I can see why Jason makes that statement. Heck there have been quite a few articles in the slightly off mainstream media about it.

Anyways I'd still rather live here.
Don't you look at my accountant.

Have any of you tried the "bread", "cheese" and "milk" that is so much cheaper in the states? I'm pretty sure there's a good reason it's priced so much lower!

Not to say that it isn't expensive here, but what's available at your average store is definitely a far higher quality.

That's the thing, we might not do it cheaper but we do it well.

Yeah but we used to do it well far cheaper and it's only the supermarkets getting the extra rich out of it.

No we didn't, we just assembled shit from overseas and passed it off as our own.

The quality of today's stuff is far better than when I was a kid.
