Cop rant

I'm always very happy when I get let off with a warning for stuff that the cop could have served an infringement notice for. I certainly don't complain!

No sympathy for being let off a ticket here either.
I found a cop was out ta get me - or tried to, perhaps due to a stereotype he'd formed of bikers in general.

while i was learning to ride i was cruzin about the waitakere's clockin up practise. Doing the speed limit and not doing anything wrong. id come to an open stretch of road and decided to stop and do a u-turn since its part of the license test. The road was clear of any moving traffic, around i went and continued on my way. A minute later a cop screams up behind me with sirens and lights blaring. after i stop he jumps out and asks, in an aggitated tone, why i turned around after i saw him?

It was a complete coincidence and i told him what i was doing calmly and without antagonising him. He must've been parked amongst other cars further up the road.
He proceeds to check my license, rego, warrant, tread depth, breath test and even the safety spec of my helmet before saying in a less than freindly manner, "well there's nothing else i can get you on so i guess your free to go".

I thought that was pretty cunty!

Sounds like it. I've certainly modified my opinion on the traffic guys since getting back on a bike.

Do you have a dodgy or unsual looking helmet? I find it quite strange that the cop mentioned it. Does sound like a dick of a cop though.

Actually Caseye there's a problem with that argument. Holding the view that NZ's finest the popo are by & large a bunch of pricks doesn't automatically mean one agrees with the OP.

Not strange at all when a popo is looking to issue a ticket for the sake of issuing a ticket. I find it strange that a popo should get peeved at an innocent U-turn when it's popo U-turns that tend to kill innocent road users.
