    Banks and fees

Found out that ASB charge 40 cents per electronic transaction, added up to a tidy $40 last month, are all the banks fees much the same or is the bank that I used to own when I was a kid a rip off?

I don't pay any fees. Unless I do something stupid like exceed credit card limit, get a cash advance from credit card or go into overdraft. Certainly no transaction fees. I am with ANZ.

Talk to your bank about suitable accounts with lower transaction costs. They have you in the wrong account.MHO

TSB, standard cheque account, nothing special added on to get special treatment like having a mortgage etc...zero fees. Fuck ASB or BNZ or any other bank that wants to charge you for getting your own money out. Fuck them, I say. Fuckidy fuck-de-fuck them! Just sayin...

I'm on ASB bank. No fees. As someone said, you must be doing something wrong or be on the wrong type of account for what you do.

ASB, standard cheque account, no EFTPOS fees. Check which account you have setup for EFTPOS, and it's terms and conditions.

Yes, it was a mortgage account so probably not the right one anymore.

Electronic banking is a fancy name for Internet banking transactions ... Westpac charges $2 for each ...

40 cents each is good ...

Haven't paid transaction fees for years. A chick at Westpac set it up for me somehow. About the only thing I pay for is my annual Visa fee and the charge to set up or change an AP. Prior to that I was paying over $20 a month.

Phone up and abuse some csr and they might give you a refund.
A 'customer good will relationship management' refund or someshit.

    Better yet. Stop using banks.

    That doesn't sound right FJR for any bank in this day and age. You need to pay them a visit. I had a look at Westpac website for standard electronic bank account as below;

    Fees at a glance

Here’s what’s free with your Electronic Account:
    -transactions with your Eftpos card
    -Westpac ATM transfers and withdrawals*
    -Automatic Payments
    -Direct Debits and credits
    -planned payments
    -online and phone banking payments

the $3.50 monthly account fee is waived if you choose to stop receiving paper statements via Online Banking

    * Any transactions made at another bank's ATM will incur an additional $1 charge.

I had a look at mine .. to change or set up payments etc ... the $2 charge applies.

Amend Internet is their term for it on the statements.

The only other charge I see is for not using Westpac automatic Teller machines ... (50 cents each time)

Wot he said. I had the exact same situation with the ASB in the early 90's. Went in for a bitch about it and the lady changed my account from this to that and buggar me, no more $30 a month fees for simply spending my own fucking money.
