I have a Shorai in my VFR. Its brilliant. Even if the VFR is less so.

Had the same thing with my ducati the other day, enough to turn it over but wouldn't fire up, until I gave it a quick charge and away it went.

Too much electronics these days, if the voltage drops a bit when the battery is in sub-optimal condition then computer says no.
Riding cheap crappy old bikes badly since 1987

If I have to replace it I will definitely buy a Shorai.... sure there is a price difference but the weight saving is completely worthwhile.
    Cheers, mate!

Owl explained what happened in the Shorai thread. He has no issues now. Well worth looking at.

It's a real problem with the Rocket, as anymore than about 5 - 10% down and it's a no go.

Ducatis are notorious for not playing nicely without a fully charged battery.

Had a similar issue with my speedy, turned out to be the clutch switch not engaging properly. Some contact cleaner sorted it out. Could be a place for you to look... Stupid things cant be bypassed as the ECU looks at them constantly...

Thanks everyone for your input. Pretty sure it is the battery at this point. On charge all day and it fired up straight away tonight.
The good news is I also have a spare battery because it is the same as the battery in my VFR. Street and Sport have a battery load tester so I wil get them to check it out but I think the question has been answered.
Which is good because I am skint at present.

What he said. Modern bikes and cars all alike these days.

If it helps, 9 year old battery in the CB900 still starts just fine. Even left for 7 weeks in 2011, started up like it was the previous day. Disgustingly reliable

My Hornet 900 factory battery gave up the ghost a couple weeks after the bikes warranty ran out

Blue Wing did not help one bit ............

Side note - year back I spent a hour fucking around when the bike would not start - turned out I had bumped the kill switch to off .......................
