Had the same thing with my ducati the other day, enough to turn it over but wouldn't fire up, until I gave it a quick charge and away it went.
Too much electronics these days, if the voltage drops a bit when the battery is in sub-optimal condition then computer says no.

Had a similar issue with my speedy, turned out to be the clutch switch not engaging properly. Some contact cleaner sorted it out. Could be a place for you to look... Stupid things cant be bypassed as the ECU looks at them constantly...
do they have the same problem as the speedmasters? the computer wont let my 09 start if it drops below 12.6v ..... dam annoying
Thanks everyone for your input. Pretty sure it is the battery at this point. On charge all day and it fired up straight away tonight.
The good news is I also have a spare battery because it is the same as the battery in my VFR. Street and Sport have a battery load tester so I wil get them to check it out but I think the question has been answered.
Which is good because I am skint at present.

Side note - year back I spent a hour fucking around when the bike would not start - turned out I had bumped the kill switch to off .......................![]()
