I wonder why bike racing is so big in Spain?

Considering that alongside Man U, The Arse, Chelsea and Liverpool, Barca and Real Madrid are two of the biggest brands in the world of sport and draw enormous amounts of money from their economies.
They didn't have a premier class world champ until Alex Criville, not all that long ago.
And their economy, while still way bigger than ours, is truely in difficulty.

USA seems to have similar issues to NZ:

By the way, I wonder if anyone can guess how much it has cost the Millers to get Jack to where he is now?
I have been told the ball-park by a reputable source.

Lots of hairy short spanish women and lots of guys with mono-brows. Stands to reason they'd learn to ride quick.

Tosh. Loads of AAA grade totty in Spain. Until they hit 30.

Any hoo, great roads, loads of sunshine & coppers who can't be arsed getting involved with folk having a good time regardless of the law.

Spain is still making mad 2t's & has quite a big road racing scene. They do love life on the edge, pork & red wine.

    Spain ain't changed much.
A mate set up an agency in Valencia organising crew for Super Yachts, chefs & such. Did really well, money, poon & fun. Last time I saw him he was driving a chipped Audi R8 for giggles. He has apparently met & married a Californian super model & now lives in LA thanks to his wee Spanish business venture.
