holy shit. i had an 81 cx500 - ran like a sewing machine it did til i blew the head gasket and cooked it coming DOWN the kaimais at about 4am one morning - the temp change was just too much for it i think.
the econohonda guy at te aroha races them - he's got HEAPS of spares for them. i might have a gasket set for the 500 here somewhere - rocker covers i think. i'm sure they'll be the same
Damn, that's an ugly bike you got mate - but put some nice pipes on it and all the girls will turn to look anyway! a leopard in dogs clothing.
Welcome back to bikes, you're going to be having fun on 2 wheels again!

Hi there - welcome back to riding! I had two CX500's - they were great bikes, I did big miles on both of mine. The first model ("A") was much better as it had a manual cam chain tensioner. Did over 70,000 trouble free kms in a couple of years. Then got the "C" model (NOT the custom!) and did about 50,000kms but it had an automatic cam chain tensioner which meant it chewed through cam chains a bit. Very underated bikes, not brilliant at anything, but did everything well.
That is the nicest CX650 I've ever seen!
Welcome.
