Least there's no chains and strops coming out there.
Certain trucking company in the bay here was known for awhile to be dumping straps ratchets and dunnage in the Waipunga twisties out the trailer toolbox door.
Just wait till you come across a bridge and a reefer coming other way hasn't secured rear doors properly...

Reason #937 to stay away from the white line.

Camper vanists are consistently dire drivers & have a plethora of never seen before stunts to catch out the unwary. A scourge I say.

Seen it happen, luckily from behind. The driver spotted it immediately though and pulled over. White as a sheet he was.

If you're close enough to that camper for the door to be thing that "kills" you, then dare I say it you're too friggin close Rossi. Wait until you see a log drop off a logging truck and roll into your path, that's the Go-Pro pic I'd be interested in...

I was riding through town one day when car in front ran over a 1m3 size bit of flat corrugated cardboard.
My visor hit it square on the edge, damn near nearly took my head. It don't t take much to ruin your day.

So where's our experts who always ride in right track incase they have to brake on a right hand corner and run off the road lol...
The real danger would not be the door itself but someone panicky in front in there car slamming on the brakes, some people have no idea of the lack of width of their cars...

When I was a teenager in Petone (Old Hutt Road) a truck lost a sheet of iron off it's deck and took the head clean off a passing motorcyclist!

Crash helmets and safety gear were rare and not compulsary in those days but I don't think it would have mattered in that case.

Insecureloading was not even a ticketing issue back then iether!

If my memory serves me right, I think the headless motorcyclist passed the truck before it finally crashed! Not nice!

Some time ago I had a plaster on my neck. Grandson asked why it was there. I told him my head had fallen off and rolled away and that I had to pick it up and stick it back on. He replied "How could you see to know where it was?" Smart arse!

Back to this topic - logging trucks are what scare the shit out of me. There is a bunch of them working out of Waitetuna Valley Rd at present (joins SH23.) There come with trailers on the back, loaded to the hilt and lean precariously at me whenever I see them. Hope they don't fucking tip over on the winding bits of road I so like to ride.

A hire trailer going down our street a couple of weeks ago and the rear hinged door was not secured. The said door was swinging and clouting parked cars .....good one!!!

Thankyou for calling me Rossi ...........after the camera bike the camper was right on the centreline so the panel was 2 feet over the line, could have cut a leg off/killed someone pretty easily.....this post was supposed to be 'informative' rather than posted to attract dork replies. If you want to know the worst loose load incident I have seen a truckload of 44gallon drums (empties) come adrift on the motorway on the Newmarket Viaduct, that was interesting
