We’re selling up and moving to the Far North

Moving to Coopers Beach to be exact.

We are to be the new Managers of the San Marino Motor Lodge. Ever since we first went there in 2011 we just loved the place. The Owner flew into NZ this morning; (as the current Manager finishes up at the end of Dec) we met with her at a local coffee shop here in town and talked things over for a couple of hours. She wants us to go up next weekend to finalise things and I will start up there Auckland Anniversary weekend at the earliest. Our house will on the market after our summer holiday at Ruakaka, once that sells (maybe before? Anne an I have not been apart for more than three days in the last ten years) Anne will come on up and start life in the ''little smoke''.

The San Marino has eight units so it is just the right size and, it is handy to some reasonable roads which is a plus, I don’t think I want to sell my Bike now, another plus.
After 32 years as a flooring fulla, it's time to give my knees and back a rest, this job is perfect for us.

As you can see, there is a heap uncover of parking for bikes.
The first pic is from top of a Pa site looking N/W along Coopers beach.

Thanks Mark. I am still pinching myself if truth be told. We have been hanging out for this for a few months now. It is amazing what happens when you start putting energy and thoughts into something. I get to resign my job tomorrow, something that is also going to feel pretty damn good!

Great news you fellas and certainly an idyllic spot to spend some time. Will you be accepting groups of motorcyclists?

That is indeed news! What a gig. Did you negotiate a boat into the package? Gotta have a boat in Doubtless Bay.

    Congratulations!

    Great news and well done.
    Coopers Beach is great!
Not an easier lifestyle, but probably a much better one.

I love the far north - got lots of cussies up there. Would like to sell here in WA and move over, but....we'll see.....

At least you won't have to update the website - it is already under new management!

Great choice of bike Bender and your quite right.
I lived in the area on and off for nearly 10 years. Once you get down to grass roots & make some local mates the places you end up & the stuff you can do is outstanding.
I guarantee within a year Maha will have a 4x4 ute stacked with fish bins & be wearing white gumboots constantly. Every time a nor'easter blows up he will be on East beach or Tokerau beach pillaging scallops.
The next morning he will be on 90 mile beach with a flounder or mullet net, Mom, nipple deep, hanging on for dear life while Maha hauls it around. Then a quick wriggle for Tuatua's on the way home. February / March will be a couple of chucks of the surf caster while enjoying a cold beer on the front door step & walking back with a couple of fat Kahawai for sashimi. 15 minutes, tops.

If the boat is in the deal then a couple of cray pots will be nestled a k or 2 down the coast at Aurere most of the time. Always worth grabbing a feed of mussels while your there. About now a walk to end of the point, the harbour entrance, & floating a livie out will get you a behemoth King fish or snapper!

Heaven has come early, it's paradise but you still need to make a crust, if you got the crust it's heaven.

Good luck dude. Pretty brave to jump into at this time of year but I'm sure you'll both manage.
