I spent a bit of time with some emergency services people over the weekend.
The statement was made that the new cameras located at either end of the new Waterview tunnel are linked. = Average speed...
So going slowly past the camera, then hoofing it through and slowing down again to pass the second camera will not get you any benefit.
Anyone received an infringement notice of this type yet? Or is it just "urban legend"?

I think if it was they wouldn't be able to resist a big bragging press release about having a new toy like that, but entirely plausible.
ALL of those motorway signs that warn you of congestion and delays while your already stationary in traffic have that capability already and they were installed 10-15 years ago.
All that's needed is for transit to stump up the extra dollars for the ANPR cameras and software update, plug and play system. But of course being such a great revenue earner, sorry safety tool the price of said upgrade is probably not cheap. The Poms have had an older type system of same on few A roads for years and when I was there in early 2000's they had just set up the new type system like what we could have on the M5 in Wales.

Well I have passed the camera in Green Island most days since it was put in and half the time I have forgotten it was there. Was told the other week it was live so good news and bad news here -
Souths new speed cameras switched on next week.
Why don't we have police burglar cams and welfare cheater cams? Those feral offenders are the ones who are really sucking up our taxes...

I thought it was the store cameras at Pak N Save?

Speed camera locations and status are on the Police website. http://www.police.govt.nz/advice/dri...eed?nondesktop
Would be interesting to correlate these with the most dangerous roads. Seems lots of cameras are in that Auckland urban area, where most fatals seem to be due to police chases.

Hello there, been awhile since I was last on kiwibiker but had to create a new account as mu ihug email address is no longer accessible
Here is a list in a CSV file of just about all the speed camera locations in New Zealand that can be uploaded, I currently load them into my Nissan X-trail 2014
I've still trying to hunt down a few camera locations like the location of the Dome Valley on SH1, got the general location still hunting down its GPS location and that way is currently missing from the below file. So if anyone just happens to be riding pass and stops to take note of its GSP position...hint hint

If anyone see's a camera listed here that has been completely removed just say and I'll remove it from this file.

Go to bacon central and click on the GPS location links.

I've been using that police pdf over the last week trying to find the exact locations of the cameras. They only give a range which can be miles out of its true location
Also they do have a few missing that I know of, one just before Wellsford and one in the Dome Valley somewhere. I found the Wellsford one but unsure of the done valley. I've upload this csv file into my navigation system and so been pretty good at warning me of where these fixed speed cameras are.
Loading the csv file into Google earth has help.
Try zenbu.co.nz.
Filter on traffic cameras to produce a list or add your own so others will get your list.
Also has lists for school zones, red light cameras etc.
Does NZ get the "Average Speed Cameras" like they have in the UK?
I remember someone trying to get some put in here a couple of years ago. It never eventuated but it got me wondering as I'd never heard or seen them outside of the UK.
