[QUOTE=jasonu;1130710074]Marty Rostenburg was the (self professed) worlds fastest Maori. He raced in the Holden HQ class and did OK as a privateer in Rally car racing with Tim ? from Colemans Suzuki parts dept as co driver. Not sure about world class though.
The thieving prick used to nick beers from my chillybin at race meetings when he thought no one was watching.

Not to forget World Champion in the 70 teams final along with Larry Ross, Ivan Mauger & Mitch Shirra, beating the Ole Olsen led Danes in one of the biggest upsets in speedway.

Larry Ross is still in NZ (his son John Ross is doing bloody well in the 600's around NZ).

But Ivan Mauger moved to Aussie so long ago, I don't know if he's lived in NZ at all since he moved to Europe to fight for the world title. He was surprised when he came to NZ to coach us young kids how to ride speedway faster, and we drunk our beer out of the bottle, not out of a glass! So that tells you how long he's been living in Aussie.

Yep remember Des Barry, think he went to England late 70's and did OK in club racing.
(Big battle with him at 'Gracefield' one year.Kicked my arse.)

You'd never go hungry with Nigella Gaz.
If it weren't for flashbacks...I'd have no memory at all..

Yes, he was good, when that field was very strong. He won the British TTF2 title in 1985.
