Sadly we've decided to sell our beloved MX5

Yeah, I know it's not a bike but it is the next best thing and is the best fun you can have on four wheels on the road.

However we have to be realistic and we haven't been using it very much of late as it is very low to get in and out of and not the best thing for my back these days. Mrs. Bear is also feeling her age, (), and while still enjoying the drive as I do, is hankering after a more practical vehicle that is easier to get in and out of.

So reluctantly we have decided to put it on the market and see what interest there might be so I'm putting it on KB first.
It is a 1994 1800 manual, Series 1, the NA, and arguably the best of them all. Has the chassis upgrade to improve the handling and the 1800 motor gives a lot more torque for road driving.

Cambelt and water pump were done, wheels and tyres are upgraded 15" alloys and have 90% tread. Soft top is average but still doesn't need replacing. Extra's are MOMO sterring wheel and pedals, front and rear spoilers, chrome sill plates.

Goes fast, drinks slow, (37mpg), and you have to experience the handling and steering to believe it!

It is in average to tidy condition, and we have looked after it. It always flies through a WoF with the only thing needed in the last couple of years, a side-light bulb. I have a new oil filter and 4lt Castrol Magnatec for its next service that can go with the car. No air-con as I removed the pump, saving about 15kg in the nose and swapped in a Shorai battery in the boot, saving 11kg there. Everything else works fine.

Oh, price..? We'll ask $6,900, it is ready to go and only needs a cut and polish, which we'll do soon.

I always knew you were some kind of closeted homo. An MX5, shit. Why did you remove the A/C pump, really? As far as standalone performance mods go it's pretty fucking retarded.

Good thing you're selling it in Summer Ed, as the battery will be fucked come Winter. Bring back the air-con!

After two years with Shorai and over 1,000 batteries sold, with respect, you ar speaking out of your fundamental orifice...

Air-con was not working when we bought it and needed an overhaul which we decided was not worth it. Open-top sports cars don't need air-con.

He's clearly never driven one in anger Ed . My missus still has her tricked-up Mk 2 and with the RE002 tyres it has fitted, it'll give a bike a good run up the Coro coast road (ahem..... when I'm driving it, that is and my speed governor isn't in the passenger seat ). Good luck with the sale

It would take a very quick and capable rider to get too far ahead of me in the MX5 around a twisty road! If the straight bits were quite short, I wouldn't guarantee a bike would win unless the rider was up there with the top guns.

What does he normally drive in women's underwear?

Careful, Ed. You keep making statements like that & I'll have no option but to bring out the lesbians again. Unless of course you meant that the rider was on a GN125, then we're good.

Perhaps too subtle? Anyway, you'd probably have more luck selling it at www.kiwihairdresser.co.nz the cornering speed would probably be just as relevant to them

Only two more posts until page two, then it'd be rude not to.

    ...oops, only one now
