    Thanks folks....

Yes! What a bloody GREAT day I had!

Woke up with a hangover from too much fun (although not as much as some people eh WT). I got a super early breakfast in bed and sadly had to get up because I was going on the 1st Annual Paul Nuttridge Birthday Ride... (bloody nice of you chaps to come down from Auckland for it)

    Nah! Just kidding!

So I toddled off with Mike on his kewl new 400 over the Paekakariki Hill at a steady pace. Eventually came up behind a 4WD following a couple of cars and was nearly going to pull the stunning pass but decided to cruise as we were nearly at the spot to meet Mooch..... Just as well, the lead car was a mufftie.....

We pulled over for Mooch, cars went through just as Mr Suzuki Bandit boy blasted out of the gas station across the road... Ooops! Top of the Haywards, there, with lights a flashin, was muftie man and bandit boy... Bugger! (for him, yah for us) and thats just how my day has been.

What could be better than a nice gentle gallop on the Guzzi on a perfectly warm and loverly spring day with some great folks. Goodness knows how many bikes were there? 20 to 30? I guess the mid bunch I was leading could have done with me going a bit quicker, but then, no one got damaged either! (and it's me birfday so I can do what I like)

I left the group to lunch and pooteled home over the hill, finally got the blood racing through the last bit and let La Guzzi of her leash and was really naughty...... (sorry mr Daytona, CBR and Honda cruiser thingy - had to be done, it's me birthday)

Now I have some kewl pressies..... Some more beer, some kewl new music to listen too with banjos in it (more beer) YAH HOO!

I LIKE being 48 (so far)

I said happy birthday to you already at Caltex this morning, but happy birthday again and you are lucky to be still so young. Great ride, hope you enjoy the pics on the other thread. Pity I'm not so good at taking pics on the run while I'm following you else I could have got some good ones of the rear of the Guzzi.
    Cheers

    Have a good one Paul.

The only day of the year you can really let those blood sugars slide! (well it is at least for me)

    All the best.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Thanks for the kind wishes everyone.

I could not have had a better day even if I'd planned it that way!

    Happy Birthday Paul in NZ

Sometimes you forget what being "Human" means. In the the midst of great despair, anguish, and self-oriented introspection one person can make all the difference when hope is the most distant it has ever been.

Paul is someone who makes a difference, with every handlebar magiced up to fix a comfort problem for a tiny GN250 rider, every supportive comment for a newbie feeling their way, a calming influence on a ride, just by being a swift shadow or a sure-footed guide. No bullshit, but plenty of compassion, loud drunken revelry, and deserved ridicule handed out without hesitation when your feet float off the ground.

A great Human Being, with all the flaws and benefits that condition brings, and a selfless mate.

May you have many more birthdays, you old coot!
