Have had a few queries about track layout, location and pits from NI riders.
Basic track plan attached showing details.
Pit area is fairly tight so get in early if you want the best spaces.
Entry into pits Via Barkers road

We aim to have practice round and 4 rounds of racing, Possibly 5 if everyone can stay on their bikes

Accommodation available in Methven township at various hotels, motels and backpackers. Ashburton is also close by .
Methven is about 1 hour 10 mins from CHCH.

    Cheers

Damn, that CAMS junior clubmans class would be perfect for my 1989 VT250 that I've just got ready for prolite250 club racing. Canterbury is too far for me though

The pegs are a bit low for normal race tracks, but on a road circuit you leave much more room for error so clearance would be okay.

How many people do you normally get racing at this event?

There is a big combined truck racing / super moto event at Ruapuna the weekend before Methven Street Races.
Some super moto riders are planning on racing Ruapuna leaving their bikes down here then flying back or staying for Methven the following weekend.

Its a cool event, as above we are expecting 120+ riders , usually 3-4000 spectators.
Short track (1km) by NZ street racing standards but still quite quick. Top riders lapping around 32-35 seconds.

CAMS Club pride ourselves on lots of track time and no stress, FUN racing.

    Accomodation options here...

Sorry Sir, but we are hoping to have Classic sidecars racing at our 3 day Southern Classic/post classic meeting 5-7th of December at Levels. Maybe pre 82 sidecars as well depending on interest.

    Cheers

Basically the same thing at the moment

I would probably pass on running a sidecar there anyway Drew, very short and a bit narrow in places

Less than a month to go

Don't forget entries must be in by 31st March to be included in the event program, we'll still accept entries for another 10 days after that but you wont be in the event program.

Good numbers of entries coming in...... keep em coming

    Methven Mountain Thunder Street Race

All entries for Methven confirmed unless you got a phone call from us.
Most of the email addresses given on the entry forms bounced back so If you haven't heard from us .... your in.

    Emailed message below.
    Hi All,
Your entry to Methven Mountain Thunder Street Race April 19th is confirmed.
Pits will be tight so get in early, please pit as close to the Blue pub & carpark as possible to make it easier to hear race call ups.
If possible park your cars/trailers in the event carpark at the end of Kilworth St ( across the race track from the entry to the pits) .
Riders with campers or buses please be considerate and not take up all the space in the pits.

Sign on will be on the deck beside Samuels bar ( blue pub) 7.30-9.00am Sat
Bring helmets and licenses to sign on, other gear will be checked by Stewards on the dummy grid.
Stewards will also be checking your tether kill switches are functional.
    Riders Breifing 9.00am same place
Practice starting 9.30am (subject to track sign off)
Scruitineering will be of a random nature performed in the pits.
Grid positions stickers will be placed on your bikes on the dummy grid when you go out for your class practice.
    Racing closes 4.00pm
Prize Giving - Samuels Bar. Bar open for riders and crews from 4.30pm, prize giving 5.30-6.30pm, meal served 6.30am. All welcome at the bar and for prize giving, only those who indicated they would be attending on their entry form will be provided meal tickets.

Street racing is dangerous, there are few run offs, the road surface is variable and if you come off... 40 seconds later max, riders will be coming around onto you again.
Because of this falling off will probably mean the race is red flagged and will not be restarted.
For the sake of safety and other riders in your class please ride responsibly and relative to conditions so we can ALL have a great FUN full day of racing.

Look forward to seeing you all Easter Sat for a great days racing.

Dont forget your red lights just in case
