Christchurch to Picton Easter road condition?

Hey, got a friend in NZ for 2 days and thought I might shoot down to Chch tonight and shout them a beer then come back for work tomorrow, but I'm wondering about the road condition from someone who has actually been on it today or yesterday?

Main thing is muddddd/clay. Much of it on the road or is it just muddy water? I know some of it is still single lane but it's probably the right time of day to avoid queues

Our ride from christchurch to picton on friday was a nightmare. 25 slips between Kaikoura and Blenheim. Frightening doesn't do the ride full justice.

Yeah don't envy you doing it in the rain man. In the dark and dryish was bad enough. Potholes for Africa.

Back up again last night, tis pretty much sweet as heading norf.
Worst part is just heading up the hill south out of Blenheim. Pretty much every right hander on the hill has potholes from the middle towards the center. They were only just working on the road the other month so not sure how soon they will bother to do anything about em. Ride safe =)
