    Help an old boy out

I had the great pleasure of meeting a wonderful old guy today. His name is Bill. He is 77 years old. He is suffering with lung cancer and has already had a lung removed. He has ridden bikes all his life and has just bought a 250 to enjoy himself on and was looking to buy some cheap gear to ride in. He was responding to a trademe advert I have going for an old set of race leathers which my son has grown out of. Unfortunately they were too small for Bill but I was so impressed with this guy, I promised to keep an eye out for gear that might fit him. He's also looking for boots size 8 or 9.

So, if anyone has a set of leathers or cordura that would fit a 173cm man of very thin build (70kg). He tried my sons new leathers on and they fit well. He is a size 46. Bill is willing to pay but I cannot think of a more worthy cause to donate some old gear to a wonderful old biker.

I have a pair of Mobig Codura pants that I bought a few years back. They have only been worn twice, so pretty much in brand new nick. I'm 85kgs and they are probably a little on the tight side for me. Might be ideal size...

If he wants them he is welcome to them. Just PM me an address to send them to.

Good on ya for putting the word out there too man. There is something wrong if we all can band together and sort him out....

Thanks for sharing this story. Way to go Bill! Sounds like he isn't ready to let Cancer win, and so very awesome to hear him get himself a bike again. Alas, I have no gear for him unless he can squeeze into size xs female. But I am currently raising funds for Cancer research (so far at $2700, aiming for $5,000), and it's pretty inspiring to hear he is living life and making the most of it. I'll mention this story when I do some media marketing for the event, you never know what might come out of it. Plenty of people out there willing to help people like him. Just got to find them.

Great to hear there's someone else of my age still riding. I might be able to set him up with all the gear, got Rjays cordura pants, almost as new, Jacket, used but still waterproof and good condition and with winter lining, Gloves, good condition, boots, good, size 9, Even got a helmet, never dropped but a few paint scratches. I'm 65.5,cm, about 5'7, and when I bought the gear I was 70 kilos so the stuff should be a good fit. He can have the lot for free but I'm at Scott's Landing, 15 miles east of Warkworth. Home everyday except Saturday.

Have watched the thread with interest. Haven't got a jacket that would fit, but have a pair of boots that might (43), however, I was watching to see if somebody closer came up with the goods.

Congratulations to those who offered kit.

    Thanks all...

Just a note to say how this turned out.

I got several offers of gear from riders across NZ. Good lot you are. In the end KB-er Eliot-ness above gave some nice road gear including Jacket, Boots, Gloves and a helmet (trousers too big and will be returned) and also a chap from Greymouth sent up a race suit which fitted perfect. Bill is very happy with the gear and has already been out riding in it. He sends his thanks and best wishes. I hope to go out for a ride with him soon also.

Thanks to you all for your consideration and generosity. It was great for me too...
