My plugs keep fouling up.
I've had the bike in and out of the shop over the last 2 months getting the head and base gaskets replaced, and that seems to have stopped the coolant leaking into the engine, but I've been through 4 sets of plugs within about the last 6 tanks of gas.
This morning i started the bike, it didn't really want to idle so I gave it a bit of throttle to bring it up to 3k or so, and it backfired pretty loudly out 1 exhaust a few times, then felt like it was only running on 1 cylinder when I rode it for the next 10 mins.. after I tried to really open it up for a bit, it came back to normal, stopped backfiring, and started running on both cylinders again.
If i stick a new set of plugs in, the bike will usually feel fine for the first 150km or so, but then it'll slowly start to misfire at the top of the rev range (8k+) and run on 1 cylinder when I first start it up. :/
It's got some heat range 8 plugs in it now.. the factory ones were heat range 9's.. The 8's should be hotter though, so it shouldn't foul up so easily should it?
I've also changed from using elf 2 stroke oil a couple of months ago to shell vxs lately, but I don't know if this is having any effect on it.
I just need to figure out what's wrong with it so I can ride it to auckland, and not have to change my plugs every few hundred km's.
