RIP Simon Andrews
RIP Simon Andrews
"...New Zealanders, for all their faults, have virtues that are precious: an unwillingness to be intimidated by the new, the formidable, or class systems; trust in situations where there would otherwise be none; compassion for the underdog; a sense of responsibility for people in difficulty; not undertaking to do something without seeing it through - "

Farkin hell. Was just watching TT legends a couple days ago where he was recovering from one injury, then crashed again and was lucky to get away with it.
Third time unlucky, RIP.
a nice article on the situation, I remember this argument happening after Shaun's crash and the fund raising that went on in here,

It is very appropriately worded Scott. Thanks again to all who helped my family! Pure road racing has the obvious high risks, but allinvolved know the potentuall risk and it is there freedom of choice to put them selves on the line the way they do.
I never once raced at places like the TT without the thought in the back of my head that I may not be leaving the Island alive which I was prepared for but sorry to say, if you want to WIN the TT you have be prepared for shit happening.
I once had a friend and her mother lecture me about how stupid i was to race motorcycles with the injuries I had received, they both did this while puffing on cigarettes, the irony was not lost on me,
I dont think i could ever race on these sort of circuits on big bikes, i don't have the guts, but I respect and will always stand up and defend the right of those who want to,
for 7 years I was an EMERGENCY LATE BOARDING call at the air port leaving NZ to go and race there, why? Because I was sitting in a corner shitting myself and crying knowing what I was about to be doing and what may happen once on a bike an on the Island and maybe leaving my Lady and daughter without a man in there lifes.
SELFISH YES! But to WIN the TT you need to be very committed, even though on the outside it may look like a skip in the park to some riders and the way they deal with it mentally
Races are won in the riders head once all the preperations are done
