    Honda Dylan '07. Any good?

Looking at a 07 Honda dylan 150cc at the local honda shop, It's clearly really tidy and has a excellent proven track record of service history. the only problem is it has 23000km on the clock. also its a 2007 so its 7 yrs old. he wants $2500 for it. i was comparing it against a Honda dio110cc scooter, he told me the Dylan has a much higher build quality.

I'm pretty new to road bikes. How many KM do these things do before you start needing to spend $$$ on the engine, being a 4T that would me a nightmare.

also I recon I'll put a few Km on it so the Resale would be bad. honestly I quite like the bike worried about the KM, and value for money

I understand that the Dylan aches just like a woman but breaks just like a little girl.

They are brilliant scooters. Cruise all day at the speed limit, comfortable. 23,000k is nothing if it has been looked after, ridden and serviced properly.

I've mostly ridden off road bikes, if i was to generalise and say a car is good for say 250k - 300k kms, how does a single cyclinder water cooled motorcycle fit into that scale. 107k kms on your bike is awsome, on trade me it's not often you see a bike with high km's

That's because knobs are scared of a few kms - reckon it is a throw back to old shitty British and Italian bikes that vibrated apart every 10,000 .....

Mechanically you'd be better off with a higher km well maintained bike than one that never got serviced, thrashed to buggery and has low kms. Mosttimes the general visual condition is reflected in the way it was maintained. But not always.

yea, agree with that, I work as a electrical appliance repair service technician, and the thing that anoys me time and time again it seems to be the older stuff that lasts, all the flashy expensive new stuff today just doesn't seem to have the same build quality, i wonder how far mankind has progressed in this respect over the years, !!

Not that a 07 honda dylan is particularily old, thanks for the replies.

For that money, I'd look elsewhere. Nuthin' wrong with the Dylan, just overpriced for age and km's on clock. should be priced more like $1900.

You could get a brand new Suzuki AN125 for $2600 or maybe something like a used Piaggio Fly 125 with far lower km's for about $1700 like this in CHCH

Like the others say, 23,000km shouldn't be a show stopper if serviced as it should be, and basic servicing is very easy on a scooter. Usual service items to watch: Transmission drive belt/rollers should be done around 15,000km, Spark plug at 10,000 km, 1 litre oil every 5000km, 4T models don't choke up the exhaust, and check brake condition, tyres etc. Piece of piss really.
End of the day, it's your money, and maybe shopping out of town is more hassle, but I'd spend another $100 to get to CHC and buy down there.
All round better bang for your buck.

Gimme a PM (in Nelson) if you want me to check the scoot out. I got a Gilera Runner 2T, loads of fun but not for sale..... yet.

Yea, would quite like your opinion actually, the thing that confuses me a bit, this is a $6000 bike new, a so called pride of the honda fleet. so it has to be a different bike to a $2600 suzuki 125 (you'd think)!!!

don't worry about the engine because its small, ive got a 2007 Suzuki 125 4t and its running fine at 80500kms,just the drive (belts/rollers/springs) wear out really, yes its a lot better than an an125 in build quality etc...
the fact its 2007 means nothing sometimes in model changes, but id check that out...
remember a 125 is $417 a year to rego you need a m/cycle license to ride and lastly that scooters are gay in nz makes them not big sellers,id offer them 2 grand

80000 km, thats brilliant, thats what i wanted to hear thanks for all those responses,

Hey " Danchop " I'd be interested to hear what your maintenance secrets are, you must be doing something right ???

that scooters are gay in nz makes them not big
Hahahaha. my background is in off road and motorcycle trials, so the road thing is all new to me. yes scooters may be a bit gay, but for running around town they are way more practical, plus i think the dylan would be a good introduction.
