I agree, it is goddamned ridiculous. They are supposed to be administrators of a sport not a retail firm. Next they will be parallel importing "genuine" Ohlins from China Robert.

Can't be that. No one would oppose such a valuable and needed service.

If it ain't smokin', it's broken.
The "phone app" was actually an overly represented "request/demand" when Te MNZ did the last Member Survey - must have asked Junior Licence holders I guess

It was presented as a way of 'engaging with people who didn't know about motorcycle racing. It will allow them access to when events are on to increase awareness of motorcycle racing'.
Can you see the problem with that logic for a smartphone app?

The only smartphone app I can think of that would enhance new zealand road racing would be one which provides telemetry (aka live timing).

This is something spectators could enjoy, I found the CTAS system a bit clunky to use in a browser. A sleek sexy, functional UI would be nice.

And it could be a semi useful tool for racers who don't have timers, data acq and don't want to have to walk 100m to find out where they placed overall. Those racers.

An app that tells you what racing is on this weekend is a complete waste. No body is going to think to themselves 'I wonder what wholesome family fun activities are on this weekend. I know, I'll check the MNZ app!"

But mostly no. No smartphone app.

A phone application for members on the other hand, would be very good. Upcoming events, and entry cut off dates. Garage fees, test day fees, and facility availability would be cool.
