    Impressive but man alive that makes me feel soooo out of date (I "was" a fitter turner welder once upon a time!) ... obviously time to die! .

    Cool stuff. Engineering related but not quite in the same league I like watching some of this guys welding vids.
    The polytech courses seem damn expensive for hobby/diy level, is this something you can self teach/read books etc or do you really need to learn from a pro???
    Not that I've got space or money for a decent welder anyway

    fuck a decent welder. A couple hundy buck arc welder will handle any shit youre likely to do. Except stainless and ally. For which god invented gas torches.
