    VF750 starter motor?

Anybody know what other starter motors will fit a VF750? I know the Magna ones are the same, but any others? The one I have is a MB2 SM8216 RIGHT.
Also, why are some left and some right? Left hand drive for the yanks? Cheers.

Don't know if anything else fits, but if you're after one there's plenty of new ones at quite reasonable prices on EBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_fr...dmd=1&_ipg=200

Yeah, seen a few when trawling around yesterday that seemed quite reasonably priced. But what is the difference between the left and right?

At a guess I'd say direction of rotation, maybe for different engines/models or which side of the engine it mounts to.

my edumicated guess is the left and right start direction are because the shaft drive engines revolve in the opposite direction well the Honda twins do when shaft vs chain

It is a 1983 VF 750F, I have a workshop manual for it, but it does not explain why some are left and some are right. I think Husa could be onto something with the shaft drive idea though. The starter motor I have is pretty badly munted due to 2 of the brushes coming adrift and making a nice little mess of things.

Been told the ZZR1100 has the same starter, just needs the rear housing changed so the mounting bolts line up?????

I like to do my probing with something else ducfag, but you keep turning me down.

Aside from the fact that ... Real men push start if the electric leg fails. Yamaha reliability prevents that necessity ...
