I would have smashed you all in the Transit

Closed private road testing it will hit 140kmh fully loaded and still accelerating

    The Parapara Highway...

I went for a loop-ride up there this afternoon after work

There must be something in the air.

    I got passed by

    - a WRX

    - a Mondeo

    - an XR6

    - and a Nissan ute

all where there was NOT good visibility

either they were crazed... or I'm just old

No, they are just so much more important than you and, for that matter, anyone else on the road...

True dat. There were also quite a few gravel patches around the roadworks areas - be careful out there as they used to say in Hill Street Blues ( I know, that dates me, who cares).

Our vans got passed by a C63AMG Merc absolutely hauling fuckin ass up there. I tried to be annoyed with him, but he was enjoying himself too much, the asshole in the Falcon towing a tandem trailer with a green Ford Explorer on it on the wrong side of the road got me though.

I must have missed that bit in your first post

Ok, let me rephrase that to 'Ride your own ride and don't be a dick about it.'

Anyway, actually came here to rant about every fucking car going 80 on the way to Whanganui. Turns out the speedo on the new bike is out by about 10 km/h (and not in the factory way). So the cars were actually going 90, but following them on my speedo it looked like they were only going 80. And as they probably had normal speedos they thought they were going 100...

Oh great, just noticed there is now nearly a 20 km/h difference between the speedos of my car and my bike at 100 km/h... Yay, bring on the 4 km/h speed tolerance

Usually the Parapara has well behaved people on it - those familiar with it know where there are turnouts and double lanes ahead and it's easy to pull over and let people past.

I'm always a little more wary on it when on two wheels than when on four, because of the frequency of trucker manure/oil spills, and all-season rockslides that you can't see until you come around a tight corner. And I would rather let people past than have them polishing the rear fender with their grille...

As long as the road was straight that may well be true.
Some years back I was going South on SH1 south of Ashvegas in the Mk2 jag we ran at the time. If the speedo had been in KPH, my indicated speed would have been just legal...Dot in the mirror turned into a trannie in the livery of a New Brighton based carpet shop. I watched it pass in some disbelief...and wondered where the carpet laying emergency was....

One of my old bosses had a CF jumbo with a LD28 plus skyline 5 speed with a 3.3 Vauxhall diff center 160 KPM was its main crising speed. that said 5th was a real overdrive and it rattled along like an old TM Bedford.
He used to drive it everywheee with Earmuffs on. Pretty sure it could fit 3 quads plus. It used to eat gearboxs.

My CF with LD28 and auto plus 3.3 diff could only use 13in rears as it was geared so tall....130kph cruise in relative quiet. Sold it when there was more bog in the shell than steel. Still lives as a mobile shed on a local farm....

Yeah no idea re the wheels size but it was geared high hense my 5 was an real overdrive, pretty sure it needed at least 120+ clicks before even entertaining the thoughts of using 5th gear......

Selling three 2.0 Cortina motors and a four-speed gearbox for $170.

I'll be riding the Parapara Highway tomorrow morning. I'm absolutely going to pull over for rogue Cortinas driven by policepeople... Because it's clear from their posts they always have and demand the right of way and can enforce it on on us plebeians.
