Dangerous reminded me... A few days ago, while ironing a pair of trousers, I discovered a whitetail spider on the inside of the fly. I consider myself lucky, the spider less so.

I get about one inside the house each season. I've had some close calls though: there was one on my bath towel once, there was another on a toilet roll, and now this latest one.
My toilet roll peels from the side away from the wall, as I pulled at the paper I caught a small movement out of the corner of my eye. As the paper rolled forward the spider ran backward out of sight. The sky fell on it.

They (whitetails) eat other spiders - think I might catch some and let them go here, too many of the little web spinning bastards and they catch fuck all flies.

Fuck sakes, ya'll make up 90% of all white tail injuries recorded in the last decade.
well.. that was an interesting read... more reserch required I think...
The stats are taken from reported bites... you guys above did you report... I think ya proberly didnt, now it may not be so much a poison but the filthily wee fucks are very unhigenic some how I dont think they brush there teeth after feeding on another insect... they carry jerms which Id think get in our skin after a bite a small bite so the skin heals over and infect...
I spent 4 days in hospital earler this year due to a dog bite, tho the bite at 300psi fucked me they were mor worried about infection from the BITE

My wifes one was documented, mine wasn't. Also at around the same time there was a guuy in the news from Onerahi who lost his thumb to a white tail. Of course, I have no proof of that...

That item says they are easy to catch but other things I've read say that often the spider isn't seen. The little bastards can scoot. If one bit you while you were in bed, by the time you turned the light on it may well be gone.
And no, I hadn't left my trousers on the floor, they were on the drying rack in the sunporch, the little shit had made himself at home. I did shake one out of a pair of jeans I'd left on the floor once though.
Near Tarawera one day I watched a whitetail cross an expanse of concrete, every half a metre or so he'd jump up turning 180 degrees to check that there was nothing following him. I was just sitting still as he headed toward me, his mistake.
Discovered another one on the moped once at a stop sign, I was wearing gloves so just flicked him off. He turned ready to fight. Fatal.
It might have been Ruud the bug man, but somebody said bites early in the season can be less severe.
