    Gosh, tardme is expensive

    http://www.trademe.co.nz/help/18/fee...ulator#general

I sold an item on a $1 reserve waiting for the bidding frenzy so I could cash up and ditch my boring life here and move to London and live with Rachel Khoo (oooh errrr). Sold for $1.50 so that plan went down the lav.

but a $0.50c "Success" fee meant that I had paid more than 30% to tardme.... plus the listing fee and fees for extra photos.

I did selll something I was going to chuck in the dumpster for $50 though so there's that.

    Such a lottery.

Pah, sold an old mobile years ago in the same situation, only it sold for $1... 50c success fee (so that bottom end is still the same) so again... 50c "profit". The sending cost something like $8 Felt good for not dumping etc, but for 50c it really wasn't worth it.

TM knows they have a huge base of visitors, and use that to justify the expense as you can't get so many potential buyers elsewhere. However, watch for the likes of AutoTrader and RealEstate trying to steal back some of their respective markets by being cheaper.

Be nice to see another site take off as TradeMe's inflated fees has artificially inflated cost of items & made somethings effectively non-saleable.

Those who believe that TradeMe fees are too high, should find another way to sell their stuff. Don't grizzle - walk.

awwww....I was going to trot out the standard KB line bugger....

I agree Mr HDC but as the saying goes " it might be crooked poker game but its the only game in town"

Yeah I used to get up early for the T and E ...first in with the cash wins.

Then you get the " your account is cranky" Fairfax's idea of being with it I suppose.
