If I couldn't do my job I'd be sacked

But I'm not a meteorologist. Not once this week has any short term forecast been correct. Is it just Auckland that suffers from this with twin coasts, are other areas fortunate enough to have better luck??
Sat at home now radar sites show clear skies. All my weather apps etc show part cloud but dry. Yet is hosing down heavily.

Fair enough. Fair weather weekend only bikers don't often need to ride everyday and get in their cages. But it's impossible to drink latte on a bike and I never have to sit in traffic.
Weather doesn't bother me, I ride everyday no matter what. Just wouldn't mind a decent heads up from forecasters.

Not hard to learn a little bit about the weather and it's localized patterns. That way you have a much better chance of figuring it out for yourself. I only listen to the long range mountain forecasts, and from that I can pretty much tell what it is likely to throw my way. And it is interesting, IMO.

Get used to it, we only have two weather forecasts most of the year: fine with occasional showers or showery with occasional fine spells.

What weather forecast are you using???

I use metservice http://www.metservice.com/maps-radar...forecast-3-day as rough guide and also http://www.metvuw.com/forecast/forec...zni&noofdays=7

    and http://earth.nullschool.net/#current...92,-37.75,1471

Really Auckland is so big it can be pissing down in one suburb and fine the next, lived there for 3 years and found it an easy place to ride/drive around the weather if you had the time...

I'd it still hard to find reliable work down there?

Ps, when I lived down there I wore my wets every day. It rained at least ten minutes 300 days my first year there. Sunny most days too but boy it changes quick.

Stupid phone / Tapatalk, apologies in advance.

Cyclone Lusi - A bit of wind and that was it.
This latest storm? Worst in 25yrs (apparently)? Where were all of the warnings about that?

There are two jobs that you cannot get fired from for being useless, weather forecasters and economic forecasters.
Shows what a few years at University will get ya, eh?

    Oh, look, career advice.

Who’d have thought engineering would be so fickle. Let me tell you there’s absolutely nothing more obsolete than a successful development engineer.

Luckily the ratio of developments to engineers has skyrocketed in directly inverse proportion to the western world’s demand for developments and it's production of engineers.
