They could have saved more butts if they hadn't let pearl harbour happen... just like 911 they needed an excuse to go to war...

Wasn't even as simple as that. IT was more the byproduct of a byproduct of a byproduct. They needed to save their butts true, they needed Britain to stay in the war, they needed Britain to survive the war so they could bleed he dry and dismantle her empire and force her to repay the war debt, Britain needed us and Aus to stay in Europe and Africa. The Ausies pulled troops back the Brit convince the US of A to rush troops to the South pacific rather than lose any more of the brave colonials to defending their own countries. In short it wasn't to save our butts but to save Britain's and US of A's

That only took until 2006, 61 years after the war ended

This whole thing just reminds me of the "Bulldozer" on the $5 bill.

There is a reason why the Swiss no longer user a Victornox knife......it was a shitty knife. Likewise Orions make shitty bombers.

It makes me dumbstruck we can't afford a MQ-1 / MQ-9. Or even an A-10?
Less of an Air"Force" and more a gust of wind.

On a side note - I got to see some cool shit parked up on fathers day. Best fathers day ever.

Look all this seems pretty scary. I'm thinking 'preemptive strike'. We'll start on the top of your list and work down. Those Algerians have been getting on my tits for a while now.

At first I thought you meant a preemptive strike on Auckland. I was all right on! Wait... My kids live there... Poo my job is there... Give me a couple oh days and light it up!!!

I hate Auckland. Rat infested jungle of smog.

I dont particularly like Americans and a lot of that is from a modern day perspective. You can always pick them in a crowd, they are the ones with the loud voices and an infuriating accent that really grates your brain. ( About as bad as listening to Jimmy Barnes ) . When it comes to international commerce they are happy to ride roughshod over everyone with their high volume aggressive consumerism of often mindless products and single digit margins. As for international travel the US is not even on my list because its so ''plastic'' A country with neither creed nor culture.
An indication of their arrogance is their rebuffed request whilst stationed here that they wanted the road rules changed to driving on the right side of the road.
True enough from Kichaha etc that they only got involved in WW2 to protect their own ( expansionist ) interests and with money being involved ( lend lease etc which made Britain poor for many years ) In fact there are perspectives to say that the Japanese were pushed into a corner and that a number of Asian countries ( or peoples ) welcomed their expansionism as a means of getting rid of other historic forms of colonial rule
But the uncomfortable truth is that if the Japanese had gone along unchecked we would either be wiped out by their genocidal activities or we would be slaves to their very racist regime. So this is lesser of the evils mentality.
What disturbs me also are historic stories of Japanese coming ashore here in at least remote areas of the north and purchasing meat and produce off local farmers.
Certainly we should stand for something and show that we will do our bit to contribute to regional security with the Australians. That we are not contributing enough is very evident, while we go about wasting huge sums on treaty settlements etc

Their bombing run is slowly heading south - I'd move out now before they get to Rotorua.
