Oxford chill out gear

Question for anyone who uses Oxford Chill-Out stuff.

How windproof is it? I'm talking about the shirt and trousers, not the over jacket. I know the claim is that it stops wind chill but I'd like to know of real life experiences.

Yeah I've got Oxford Chill-out shirt and trousers. In all honesty, great idea but flawed execution. They've got a windproof frontal section on both shirt and trousers, but if you're wearing leathers that let in the breeze then this cold air will make its way around to the back anyway and you still end up with a chill going thru to your bones. Layering of thin thermals under leather does a better job I find. Or chucking the one-piece rain suit over the top on a really cold day, gooberish as it looks, damn effective!

Under a more windproof textile set of riding gear this Oxford stuff works a treat though, but then in those cases a couple of layers of merino or icebreaker kind of stuff does the same job.

Personally the best bit of undergarment I've bought so far has to be a one-piece Rev'it under suit.

I've got the Chillout shirt and I can't say I'd rush out to buy any more of the same. I found this shirt horrible to have touching my skin and needed some type of thermal underneath it.

I pretty much agree with caspernz's assessment.

I have the shirt and it works fine for what I use it for. It has never occurred to me to wear it next to my skin so that's not a problem. Generally I'm wearing it under a cordura jacket, over T shirt, or T shirt and marino pull over.

I also had a similar but more expensive, although possibly warmer, item by Drudi Performance. Upmarket materials but about two sizes smaller compared to the Oxford, I ended up giving that to my niece. Wrote that off as an expensive mistake.

The KLIM Dakar Pro looks interesting but even FC Moto list it at a price that'll make you gasp. And that's before you add freight.

Although I have a vented leather jacket I haven't tried the Oxford under that, I use one of these:

When you compare the price of the Oxford shirt to those other items it starts to look like a bargain.

Damnit! I've got some 'Knox Cold Killers' gears on the way and this is something I didn't think about at all but makes perfect sense.

I like mine. Awesome if you consider it a part of a system. I find the newer models more comfortable but less well made. Bought mine while in the trade. Would not pay retail for more. There are other cheaper options that work as well or better. Zips are shit. Fit is odd. Massive in the chest too small on the neck. There is little symmetry. Right side is bigger on both of mine. My newer one needs mending. My older one needs a delicate touch to not fail.

Pants fit perfectly except the knees are oddly tight.

The elastic is too light for the intended purpose. Most was shot or twisted within a days riding.

Value? I'd pay up to $50 a piece. Not the ridiculous retail prices.
torpedo7.co.nz had some that looked nicer at half the price last winter.

For all their quality limitations they do work. The new model not quite as well as the older models. However newer models are also good for lowering your temp in summer.
