    Compact sleeping bag

Hi, I am planning a big trip next summer and my wife has decided she will come along on the back. This puts a premium on space. Can anyone recommend a compact sleeping bag for touring? We’ll now have to get 2 in our kit.

If you want her to go with you a second time, get a good one with a below zero rating.

If you don't ... try the Warehouse (children's department)

Stay in motels. There are many benefits. Marital harmony being the most obvious.
There are others hidden in the subtext. (Sex, I'm talking about sex)
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.

Thanks good points there either benefits

Whatever you vividly imagine, ardently desire and enthusiastically act upon must, inevitably, come to pass .

Thanks some good points paying a bit more for warmer options will be the go. And motels although we have booked Psa units which don’t provide bedding, thus looking for compact sleeping bags.

It might pay to look at luggage capacity improvements too. Second-hand can be cheap.

And get sleeping bags that can be zipped together to make a double one. The first (cold) night will be worth the price ...

Kathmandu Comet or pathfinder (Pathfinder is the slightly warmer model) - They are tiny when packed down and warm enough (much warmer than anything from the Warehouse). Length is important - get the shortest one for her height otherwise they are bulkier than they need to be for no additional warmth.

Like everything Kathmandu, wait until they are having a major (50% off) sale, which seems to be every few months.

Coordinating the zips so they zip together (one left hand side and one right) is a worthwhile one - shared body heat is a great way to stay warm.

I like my selkbag, great for summer camping. Recommend a size too big.
