    XS650 flooding on left side

My XS 650 floods on left side. Petrol comes out the exhaust. There is no ignition happening on this side as exhaust pipe is cold. Any ideas to solve this?

I have a dual output coil with a pamco. Since the fuel spilling out of left exhaust I have: checked and replaced spark plugs, ht leads, and plug caps. Swopped ht leads on cylinders. Replaced floats and pins, replaced float valve and seat. Timing checked and is spot on. Inlet and outlet valve gaps are set correctly. Main jet and pilot jet are not blocked. Float bowl has no debris or crap in the bottom (I have an inline fuel filter in place).

    Cheers

    Simon

Done a compression test - have 150 on both sides.

Thought it might be spark related but I'm running a dual output coil and electronic ignition (pamco) so should be firing the same on both sides (wasted spark system). When I swopped ht leads over other side runs fine but left side still pours fuel out of exhaust.

How did you sort yours out?

Hey surfer, long time no see. Swap coil/s out and then see if you still have spark.
Hope she gets sorted mate, last time I saw that machine was when you'd just left Taumaranui.

You could fix the issue by giving it to me
So i can add to my assortment of old bikes.

Sounds definitely to being a spark issue. If your running points, check the points gap incase your delay/ duration is off a bit.

Hi Caseye, yep was a loooong while ago - had to replace the engine after it spat a con rod through the front of the engine case. I keep meaning to join in on another BFTP ride, catch you soon I hope.

    @ yamahardman lol, no chance.

The spark and firing is perfect. I am certain it is carb related but I have no clue

Woudl it be possible to swap the carbs side to side and see if the problem moves to the right cylinder? That would definitely prove whether its fuel or spark.

does the problem happen when the bike is on the side stand? Is the stand on the left side of the bike? could the float height e incorrect or the float sticking down?
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

...I got lectured to by my friend who has forgotten more than I have ever learned, about chasing fuel problems without setting the float levels to perfection, before fiddling with the rest...
