I've decided it's time to cut my losses and sell my TRX which has sat unused for the last four years. Head was stripped down for inspection following a blown head gasket when the bike was running high compression pistons - as far as I can remember there was no other damage but the bike had been running on the lean side which was given as the reason for blowing the head gasket!? The plan was to rebuild the bike with an 878cc kit and keep it for when I'm back in the country however over the years it has proven too much hassle to organise anything from the outback and it has been more cost effective to hire a car and just freeload off my mates when I visit

The bike as it sits now is a rolling frame with the engine still in but with the head off. It has sat like this for some time with gladwrap over the engine to prevent moisture ingress, but has been stored inside the entire time. The pistons that came out of the bike are unusable and I have them as an ornament 'offering to the gods of speed' on my mantle piece because they are pretty. I purchased a low km streetfightered TRX in Australia and transferred all of the Japanse aftermarket goodness to my bike in Australia - this bike is being sold as a stock TRX850 with streetfighter bars (for those of you who knew my bike when I rode it in NZ). I believe it may have a race cam in it but I haven't bothered to confirm this.

Basically this bike will serve well as a starting point for an 878cc big bore build, rebuild to stock specs, or as parts for your bike. Essentially it is a complete bike minus pistons, front fairing and exhaust, and requires a top end engine rebuild. Last I checked the plates (A6AJS) were still active so you will only need a wof/rego to get back on the road once you've done whatever you want with it. Don't have pics of it recently but it's a black (japanese spec) motor, red frame, and 'magma' orange fairings, with streetfighter risers/bars - it's ugly as sin so you'll want to work something out with the colour combo; it looked alright with silver frame/engine and the orange fairings. The brake discs are probably just on spec, the tyres will get you past a dodgy WOF (Conti RaceAttacks chewed on one side) but won't get you through a VTNZ/AA inspection.

The bike is at a mates place in Mangawhai under a tarp in a big shed. It's not going anywhere anytime soon so the sooner it's sold the better!

Looking for $1000 for a quick sale or it'll go on tardme. Last parts lot I saw for a TRX850 sold for over $800 and that was just a rolling frame with live plates. I have a complete rebuild kit including the 878cc pistons etc which I will sell for the right price by negotiation, also a Akrapovic 2-1 stainless system with carbon oval exhaust which is currently for sale in Australia for $800AUD. Can also supply specs of 12.5:1 hi-comp COSWORTH pistons that came out of the bike if you want to get some custom made.
