    Russell Josiah vs Britten 1992.

Anyone got any images of those bikes in combat? Classic year, nothing on youtube, nothing in images. Hope someone took a few pics of a classic racing year!

I have a few old kiwi bikers in that era but I doubt they will have much in colour..........
I used to have the mainfield round on video when russel raced Aaron got 3rd on the TKA ZXR and Raymond blew the Ducati, big time but that was a few year prior to vs the britten haven't seen the videos for years bet they are at the olds

Euan Cameron in ChCh - professional photographer, has an enormous bike racing archive. From memory most of the pics in both Britten books were his.

Thanks for the advice (still hope the odd freeby or two might come up though...), that and 1993 were classic racing years.

lots of folk say that roadracing is in a poor place these days. At least we have the nationals regularly on television not like those years...
there were some titanic battles between these lads, i remember jason mcwen passing three bikes in the top five on one corner at bay park, still don't know how he got away with it.
Steve Green took a lot of piccies, dunno where all his stuff ended up when he died though.

From what I remember of the 92 superbikes at Manfield... Robert Holden on Ducati not standing a chance against the Britten in the BEARS race/s ... A dude in the crowd with a trumpet playing at the most appropriate times, My mate catching Falappa's boot when he won the 2nd race and my other mate taking said boot to pits and pretty much mugging Falappa to get him to sign it(apologies to security too :/) edit: was a messy weekend so all or none of what I said may or may not be true

Yes I was close enough when that happened flag marshaling. Big puff of smoke, erm think he was exiting the hairpin & we were next flag down. He didn't stop though, just laid a trail of oil around the track back to the pits. Electrical problem I think it was call back then
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.

on the comentary I think he said it was a loose oil filter with a sly grin,I bet there was conrods and crankcase bits all over the track lol
He was on fire in that race, A real class act when he wanted too , Other than the oil everywhere bit.

That bike russell had was one of the very best Superbikes to ever race in the NZ champs, they spent a shit load on building a pucker race bike.

After Russell fell off at ruapuna and broke a leg, it sat in a corner of my workshop till they came down South again and collected it. Russell hadn't seen it since the accident and was all over it, checking for missing bits. Turned and asked me what had happened to the fairing mount bolt...I tossed it to him saying "titanium is so last year, nylon is lighter..." much laughter from the crew. Immediate question - where do I get nylon bolts ?

As it was told to me, if Russell had a good morning - ie, sold some bikes - he'd go into the office and read catalogues to see what trick bits he could order...
