    GN250 won't start

    Hey,

So I just bought my first bike, a GN250, I know next to nothing about bikes (I know that sounds bad, but I'm hoping to learn as I go).

Apart from when I picked it up, I've never actually started this bike successfully without push starting it, so I'm pretty sure the battery needs replacing.

This morning though, I went to try start it (I rode it for a decent time yesterday so thought it may have held some charge) and this time nothing happened. Like it didn't attempt to turn over at all, no clicking sound from the started motor (I dont even know if it should make a clicking sound, I just know it does in a car). I didn't have time to try push starting it so just left it. Ive done a bit of googling this morning and everyone keeps saying to check the killswitch - this is going to sound so amateur but where is it? I swear I didn't see one, do all bikes have one?

Thanks, and please be nice also from browsing forums all morning ive discovered no one likes GN's, but for me it was the least intimidating bike I could find.

The kill switch should be on your handlebars somewhere. Probably next to your throttle and its usually red.

Make sure its set to On/Run.

As for your battery/charging circuit, buy a cheap multimeter if you dont have one already. Its pretty simple to diagnose a faulty charging circuit and there are plenty of guides around. If your not sure what to do I'm sure there will be someone on here in your area that might be able to help you.

EDIT: The kill switch may have symbols on it like this one.

If so make sure the switch is towards the arrow without the cross through.

The red button that does not have a pic of a horn on it, is your kill switch.

Do your lights work with key turned on?

You could try connecting a car battery to your bike battery and then try starting, that way you'd know whether battery or something else?

If it was the kill switch the question becomes why did it start with a push start?

Stupid phone / Tapatalk, apologies in advance.

Got to a Suzuki dealer and ask for advice for starting it. Advice will be free...if not...tell me and I'll burn their shop down.
