ok ok - how about a live and let live thing here?

I know very little about the MMC... I know NOTHING first hand... and I also know gossip and heresay can sometimes be a little distorted.

I don't think I share their lifestyle... but that's ok - I don;t hang out with them... and they don't hang out with me...

We might both be doing each other a favour, we might both be missing out... who knows.

    I don't.

    Welcome along Dannica.

Let's count the ways we hate you....I can't remember if Frank and the Mothers came here or not? But I wouldn't remember if I saw them or not,if I had seen them,y'know? Frank was like a stunt rider,so fucking talented he doesn't have to do it properly, big donuts and wheel stands.Famous in my book for seeing an audience stampeding from an Alice Cooper concert and realising there must be great talent behind it...

Pssst......we're talking about Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention. He called his son Dweezel. We kid thee not.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

100 points if you can tell the story behind the name. 50 more points if you can name the cartoon Dweezel does a voice in. 25 more if you can name his sister.

    1. The Mothers changed their name to the Mothers of Invention because the shorter name had "connotations" (prudish Merkins).
    2. Duckman.
    3. Moon-unit.

    Okay, I'll have a go.

    1. Frank Zappa's band was originally just called the Mothers. His record label told them they wouldn't release the album unless they changed their name (because it could be taken as an obscenity). Out of necessity they added "of Invention" as "necessity is the mother of invention.

    2. Dweezel Zappa is the voice of Ajax on Duckman.

    3. His sister is called Moon Unit.

edit: Damn you Hitcher. Beat me by a minute.

Aren't you supposed to be on the hill still? How was the ride?
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

    Hehe

    Congratulations.

Except, for the first one. I was meaning the story behind how Dweezil got his name. The Mothers story is good too though.

    For those who don't know.

When Dweezil was born, Frank wanted to name his son Dweezil, which happened to be his pet name for his wife's big toe. When the nurse refused to write it down he rambled off the first names of all the Mothers. And so was born, Ian Donald Calvin Euclid Zappa. When he got older and was told the story Dweezil changed his name by deedpoll.

BTW looks like he has an album with his brother Ahmet coming out.

    hahahahaha

    that reminds me..

back in 2001 i was in wanaka at the sled dog snow races and i had "mud boy" with me.

and on th eway up to the snow farm i made the coment to him about not eating yellow snow.......

his reply..." dad, what is yellow snow"?

don't worry son i said ... i'll show you soon...

anyway each day we went up there i would make the same coment and he would come back with the same question...
this went on for about 4 days..

then on the 4th day i was busting for a leak.... over the bank i went (out of sight) and told luke to come and have a look at the yellow snow..............

    he turned

    he hasn't eaten yellow snow

    what a ride so far!!!!
