    Ah. Deep Purple.

I must admit I was always fond of the Ritchie Blackmore style of music production when I was recording - taking Spector's wall of sound idea that extra step to make everything louder than everything else...

Pity Smoke on the Water is the second most butchered song by learner guitarists.

    Who knows the most butchered?

A clue - it was sent up in an amusing early '90s comedy film about two time travelling slackers...
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

    - James Dickey, Cherrylog Road.

Nope. Wrong movie. Although the scene at the start with the 6 foot high speaker is rather humorous.

Actually, I had my wires crossed a tad. The movie is actually Waynes World.

I was thinking at first it was Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.

No time travelling. Still slackers though.

You know the scene where Wayne Campbell goes into his local music store and tries the guitar of his dreams? He only plays one note before the guy working there makes him stop for breaking the store’s rule: “No Stairway.”

Hitcher - I left PN end of 1978. Went to many a party in Burke Street...
In fact went to heaps of parties around Palmie North.....
I used to live in Bourkes Street , but not 78 , from about 1980 to 84 ? rode a GT750 in those days. Was I in Gray street prior to that . Good days

Yep the 70's were the good ol' days.....
Gas was cheap... milk was 4 cents a bottle...
Booze was 45 cents a bottle.. (I think)
Well we could drink heaps back then...
Go to any party, without a invite... just walk in with a crate of beer.
Parties were 6 days a week...
Only day we didn't drink was the night before payday cos we had run out of money...

Oh those were the days.... when we all had fun.............

Aren't you supposed to be on the hill still? How was the ride?
The ride was fantastic. Just what I needed. Up the Hutt Valley, over Haywards, up the Goat Track of Death to the Paekak lookout. Freezing cold up there -- warmer riding the bike. And then back home via the local chippie in time for the footie.

When i was a kid growing up in Palmy, I'd say seeing the Mothers riding around (albeit a rare sight) is the first exposure I ever had to "bikers".
