The fact that it doesn't bother you is also disturbing, in that, if you are prepared to accept this level of surveillance, what are you ultimately prepared to accept - and why do you accept it? Nothing to hide so nothing to worry about. You aren't alone in this - it is rather disturbing the number of people who are quite prepared to be spied on in this way....only collecting metadata......it's still "being spied on", and we have a right to have some privacy in our lives. When it becomes legal for us to go trawling through all the MP's emails, phone calls, etc, etc, then maybe, but until then........

The reason I'm not so disturbed about it is at least they will be collecting CORRECT data on me. As opposed to the modern day citizen gossip stasi who've corrupted the data once its been relayed more than once...
I used to be quite a private person then trucking through the night listening to the CB conversations of all and sundry I realised we don't really have any privacy. There are guys out there that all they do all night long is blab on about so and so, his family, where they live, what cars they own etc... And of course this extends to other industries and jobs too. People around us know much more of our private business than many would care to admit.

And the volume of data is so over whelming that your only going to be in the gun sights should you wish to stoop into the world of politics or be a key prosecution witness at a police corruption trial...

The problem is that most people don't understand what they have to hide. They blindly think that they aren't doing anything illegal and so they have nothing to hide. This is of course far from true.
