    Cemetery Circuit 2005/Jimmy Barnes

    .

Jimmy Barnes is playing a concert at Cooks Gardens, Wanganui, on Boxing Day night.

    Quote from Silver Bullet:

Aussie rock legend Jimmy Barnes will play the second part of an audacious double-act at Wanganui on Boxing Day.

Barnes will play Wanganui’s Cooks Gardens on Boxing Day night in a concert set to complement the traditional Cemetery Circuit motorcycle races that day

The concert promotion has flowed directly from an idea tossed around by Radio Network’s Provincial General Manager Martin Smith and Cemetery Circuit Event Manager Ray Whitham earlier this year.

Now, in conjunction with the Cooks Gardens Trust Board, the Wanganui District Council, Hospice Wanganui and The Wanganui Chronicle, The Radio Network and Cemetery Circuit 2005 will be host to Wanganui’s big day out of action and entertainment.

“The combination of motorcycle racing and rock legend Jimmy Barnes is as good as it gets” said Ray Whitham at yesterday’s media launch. “In fact it’s better than that. Its as big as it gets. This will be the smartest entertainment package in New Zealand this summer,” he added.

Wanganui Mayor Michael Laws said the combination of the Cemetery Circuit races and the Jimmy Barnes Concert was a brilliant one and “has the potential to become the West Coast equivalent of the ‘Concert at the Mission’ in the Hawkes Bay.”

The promotional campaign started yesterday and Jimmy Barnes is in New Zealand for the occasion. The first radio ads have already aired and a television campaign will follow soon

Tickets to both events will be available through Ticketek from Saturday. Patrons will have the choice of tickets to the Cemetery Circuit, Boxing Day Rock or for general admittance to both events, a special roller ticket for $75.00

For the first time in the 50 year history of the event, grandstand seats will be available on the Cemetery Circuit.

Don't have a 125 class but I am hoping to run mine in F3, some clubs allow pre 95 125's to run in F3 but I'm not sure what their rules are. If not then it will be clubmans (can't remember weather or not they ran that class last year, hopefully). Might bring the bucket and enter that in pre 82.

As far as I'm aware they don't run Clubmans at Wanganui.
