I hear ya...I am just too short for my weight

I go to the gym 4x a week at 4:30am (I hate talking to people at the gym). I lift heavy two days and lighter with higher reps the other two, on an upper/lower split. I get grumpera and tiredera if I don't go now. I have even discovered my body aches more if I don't go.

I struggle with food though. ..I love it!

But I no longer go to get the "perfect bod", I go because it makes me feel strong and healthy.
No body move... I dropped my brain

Fit enough and strong enough to embarrass dudes half my age, which I love doing. And I smoke 30 a day and the only real exercise I get nowadays is walking and dirtbiking and sex. Always been a bit of a scrapper and love a challenge, and pain can be strangely motivating. A mate of mine was a NZ rep for kickboxing and I used to spar with him until he went to ozzy a couple of years ago, mental strenght is where it is at for me these days, loving that shit.
For a man is a slave to whatever has mastered him. Keep an open mind, just dont let your brains fall out.

I started getting fit again about 2 years ago. got fat and outta shape. Found something to do that meant I could learn AND get fit. I cant fucking stand sitting there, pushing a bar up and down, fuck that shit, I need something to hold my attention.
Lost 26kg in 8 months, got into the best shape Ive physically been in in my entire life, and by a long shot, the fittest Ive ever been.

Happier at home, happier at work, which has been noticed with several promotions, healthier food tastes better, and a lot of doors have opened for me as a result that has massively improved the quality of my life.

    Should have done it sooner,

Quit for a variety of reasons; I had some De Quervain's that I thought was being exacerbated by it (turns out lifting neither really hurt or hindered it though). Plus my second-hand membership ran out and I was too tight to buy at full price...

TBH I really should get it going again though, fuck the excuses.

You're right, it is amazing how much of a difference to health and general wellbeing it is. It's also a great tool to combat depression if running/swimming aren't your thing.

Looked at buying a cage/bench and barbell to work out at home (why pay for the gym's 1001 machines when I use just a couple of things), but being 6ft3 I'd need to put holes in the ceiling if I wanted to press or do cleans
You really thinking about getting fitter? = we should have a chat my friend

and its what? ballroom dancing? (dont laugh, my sister in law does it competitively and she is fit as a trout, and strong)

I know exactly what you mean about pointlessly lifting weights. What I do involves quite a bit of thinking (in terms of technique and strategy). Although to quote Mike Tyson, everyone has a plan till they get punched in the face.

Lifting heavy weights involves a fair bit of thinking also...the heavier you lift the more you need to concentrate on your form/technique to engage the right muscle group and ensure premium gains. You don't do that, then yes, utterly pointless.

Always had to stay in shape and always struggled until I started Crossfit at the beginning of the year. Now I'm the fittest and strongest I've ever been, can eat whatever I want (cept I don't do sugar or wheat/flour) and smash any physical task that comes my way.

Funny too I used to hate on Crossfit pretty bad and only did it to keep the wife company. Now we both go 4-6 times a week and loving it (well me not at the mo, broke my leg doing Army stuff).

Expensive though but if you can spare the $200 a month, give it a crack for 3 months and see what you think.

Yep before Crossfit I used to jog and do 3x5 starting strength in my garage but just could never get the cardio/strength balance right. Proud of my cage and Olympic bumper plate setup though (about $2k worth) and still training upper body/core while my leg heals. My OH presses are just short of the ceiling and I'm only 5'11.
