    Newbie with a welding question

Hello everyone my name is Paul.
I ride a Suzuki LS650 with a 97mm Wiseco high compression piston and ported head with custom exhaust.
I'm currently converting from a Bobber to a Cafe Racer.
I'm doing some small mods to the frame which involve wielding a loop onto the existing frame for the seat and tabs for the rear sets.
Also I am cutting the swing arm in half wielding a spacer and inserts to fit a larger tire.
I will be getting it certified but not sure if this level of work needs a certified welder?
Can someone tell me if the wielder needs to be certified for this sort of work.

    Cheers
    Paul

Ask your certifier? That is what they are there for.

They use the term "competent welder". How the certifier interprets that is up to them somewhat. Either a ticketed welder or the certifier will ask for welding samples from my limited experience.

Ask the vehicle certifier. He will be a lot happier if a certified welder does the work.

Thanks everyone. I have gone to a certified wielder and he is happy for me to tack it in place and then he will wield it. At least I can do all; the fiddly stuff which will save me money.

Sensible decision. At least you can still feel like a part of it.
