I could see a 9 year old needing to operate an Uzi safely in the Gaza Strip. Not the Vegas strip malls.

That's why you stand behind any shooter on the firing point.
1st round was single shot, but why switch to full-noise straight after that?

Charles Vacca, 39, was instructing the child on safe use of the submachine gun when the recoil from firing the weapon caused her to aim and fire in his direction.
Well, that's one way to get fired...

If the Uzi is like most smgs, it will pull left and up in the hands of an inexperienced shooter. So, where was the instructor standing........? FFS..........

Instructor ? has been Darwinised! Simple as that really.
Poor little girl, she will never forget today. For all the wrong reasons.
Handling a firearm is not rocket science, one of the yanks interviewed said, instructors stand on left or right side depending on the shooters handedness and the type of weapon in use and which setting it was on.
    This Should NOT Have happened.

Probably for the best that it did...

If he was doing shit like that himself what the hell crazy bad habits was he teaching his students?! 'Act fast! Shoot first! There will always be plenty of time to identify a target once you slow it down.' XD

    One dead instructor.
One screwed up forever little girl.
    Two dumb parents.
Millions entertained by such utter stupidity.

How about some house rules for the gun club. Perhaps such a weapon should have a minimum shooter age/strength/size limit?

    FWIW........

Uzi's are very good for desert use....but unsuitable for anything else.
It has a very heavy action with a fixed firing pin.
The trigger operates a lever preventing that action from sliding forward, and picking one of its 32 9mm rounds up.
Pulling the trigger releases that "brake"....
All the tolerances are very sloppy, to make it function even when full of sand....
That sloppiness, combined with the weight of action, short barrel, large clip in handle, and high rate of fire make it very prone to accidentally "run off"
    {just a little knock can set it of.....}

No this is not a copy and paste......
It was my personal weapon for a while, and i have seen it go off like that....

According to the Paul Henry shows report on this the gun range has reacted to this event by setting a minimum height and age requirement to use the automatic weapons.

The gun ranges spokesperson seemed oddly cheerful discussion this event.
