+1 to the Nexus. Watch out for Samsung, they have very shitty software on them (like almost all other tablets with decent hardware). Unless you want to try custom firmware, go with a Nexus.

Well the Nexus (7") does come in budget, just. (should have stated 200 is max) So might start looking at that, might see if I can pick last years model or refurbished up for a bit cheaper maybee

Looks like they're way out of the price range of the OP. And they're naturally a rip off being an iDevice.

Yeah I missed budget. I bought the 1st gen Nexus 7 for just over $200 earlier this year but it's a bit underpowered and the screen isn't great. The gen 2 is under $300 and has a higher res screen.

Screens not great? In what way. if I have to breach the 200$ mark I might just upgrade to an iPad & use my shitty Samsung for photos instead it's about all it's good for

The screen res is 1280 by 800 whereas the Gen 2 is full HD (1920 x 1080). The colours also look a bit dull compared to an iPad. Don't get me wrong, it's OK but obviously not as good as the premium tablets.

I'm going to sell mine, PM me if you're interested. It's in new condition and is running the latest version of Android - one advantage of buying a Nexus!

+1 to the nexus 7, it's the best bang-for-your-buck tablet. The brightness and contrast of Samsung screens are a bit better though as others have pointed out.

    He said Budget!!!

I picked up a twin core bla bla bla 7inch ASUS on special around four months back -I've been very impressed. A bit of research and this brand name appears to be up and coming.
