    Scooter desert racer

    such a cool pic i just had to air it here, its a vespa racing in the desert at the 1972 NORRA mexican 1000! two scoots were entered that year and others in the vintage desert racing page (facebook) speak of competeing against vespas in other desert settings around that period...cool!!!

    yep, looks like a baseball helmet! hate to think how that 10'' front wheel handles in the sand washouts. heres a pic of rick siemen racing a chopper in the desert, inspired by the easy rider craze...

    Drag racing on scooters, I didn't know there was a distance as short as 1/32 of a mile. The tyre warm ups are impressive.

    the dakar? fawk!! youd surely cop some serious fatigue on and bike let alone a scooter. twenty years ago i remember some scooter dudes out of auckland doing a scootercross type thing at rallys, knobblys on etc making obstacles out of pallets and whatnot

    We gave dirt racing another go back in about 2006 , must have some photos somewhere
