Whats to ask - he qualifies as a New Zealander by birth and if he chooses he qualifies automatically for Israel by being born of a Jew - which he has said he is!

With regards US citizenship - he has not answered that question when officially asked!

    So what?

A goodly proportion of citizens in NZ have the automatic right to become citizens of the UK by dint of their parentage.
There would be more than a few who qualfy for Aussie, European and South Pacific citizenship.
Several of our MP's were born in Australia, the UK and the USA.
It wouldn't surprise me if some of those had dual-citizenship (as I have).

I have no doubt there are also plenty of people in NZ that qualify for Israeli citizenship.
    So what?

Why does he have to answer the question?

Because "he" is prime minister and the electorate has a right to know where his loyalties lie especially when he makes decisions that could "suggest" conflict of interest!

No other reason unless there is some standing law to the contrary - of which I make no claim to know!

The people who officially asked him the question deserve an answer - it seems politically foolish to me that he did not reply! - He surprised me with that!

When you say "suggest" does that mean that it's not a suggestion, or is it irony, or is it that you have no idea how to use quotation marks?

Notwithstanding that, a look at the Electoral Act would have put your fevered mind at rest. Whereas a person with dual citizenship can stand for parliament, once elected, an MP cannot swear allegiance to any other foreign power.

See the case of Harry Duynhoven in 2003 - he nearly lost his seat.

Given the lack of denial .. it makes me wonder ... IF DonKey has dual citizenship (does not break NZ electoral law) it makes me wonder in whose best interest is he committing New Zealand soldiers to fight and die on the US side? New Zealand's best interest of the US interests ...

All Key has to do is say No, I do not hold US citizenship ... (but he never has ...)

transparency and honesty go hand in hand, Donkey has none.
after Donkeys tirade the other day you dont have to wonder very hard who's interest he has at heart, if he indeed has one?
and telling the labour party to "get some guts" while using peer pressure to make them look gutless is just stupid, only gutless cunts fold under peer pressure.
who gives a fuck what everyone else is doing, we can decide whats best to do on our own.
why should NZ be part of yet another US blood bath.

U.S. law does not mention dual nationality or require a person to choose one nationality or another.

True - but given his decision to commit New Zealand soldiers and lives to the USA cause it does raise the possibility of a conflict of interest. If DonKey says "NO" to the question - there is no issue. If he says "Yes" there may well be an issue and his loyalty is in question.

I believe the electorate has a right to know the answer.

I would have thought there would be some public access to a database that lists or confirms all US citizenship applications/granted etc.

    Not quite.

Candidates for US citizenship through naturalization are forced to renounce their previous citizenship at the United States naturalization ceremony.

The renouncing of one’s previous citizenship is part of the oath that new US citizens must take, and failing to honor that oath could result in the loss of citizenship in the United States.
