A year before getting into power he claimed he would make us like Ireland.... and we're following that tract - a hands off economy that tanked over due to an inflated housing boom. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_property_bubble

The housing bubble of Auckland hasn't stopped, and exports to China are beginning to wane off and be less profitable (the same reason why Australia's economy is tanking = less Chinese demand for raw materials). The housing boom and slow Christchurch rebuild is contributing to GDP growth. GDP is such a pointless measure for basing the success of one's "economic performance" given that Crime contributes to it positively - how are the resolution rates going for property crimes and reported crimes? Response rates for 111 calls? Surely these will do even better when more Police stations are shut down.

IMF has warning us for the last couple of years about the major threats to our economy - reliance on China, over inflated housing market. What's been done?

The only thing rock hard about our economy is the erections of a few rose tinted John Key fans who fail to comprehend what decreasing milk prices, increasing numbers of suicides and attempted suicides amongst dairy farmers, hundreds of forestry job losses nationwide, building companies and contractors collapsing in Christchurch despite the "rebuild" are indicators of.

    -Yawn-

It really burns you guys up when things are going well, don't it?

Got a big tax refund today, which I'll likely spend on another old BMW.
Maybe I'll pay beneficaries to stand as trials markers and some as obstacles to ride over...

Are you implying that beneficiaries/markers/obstacles are of predominantly Maori descent? fuck that's racist.

    Role of the media

Throughout the bubble, newspapers and media played a vital role in hyping property. No national newspaper was without a glossy property supplement and weekend papers were often equally filled with property ads, reviews of new developments, stories of successful purchases, makeovers, and a gamut of columnists relating their property experiences. TV and radio schedules were filled with further property porn - house-hunting programs and house makeover programs were regular features on every channel. Even in July 2007, Irish Independent journalist/comedian Brendan O'Connor urged people to buy property, even as the bubble was clearly bursting.[39] In April 2011, journalist Vincent Browne admitted that the Irish media had played an important role in adding to the frenzy of the Irish property bubble.[40

Ofcourse we don't have that here with our media do we

Outside of a bit of timber we're selling fuck all raw materials to China, we're selling mostly high-end dairy products and wool. Which isn't a bad market to be in now that China's massive infrastructure bubble is dwindling and the new Chinese middle class have some money to spend. In fact we're doing very nicely out of it.

Sorry, you'll have to look elsewhere for your doom shit.

We already pay them... for something. Not sure there's much traction to be had there, though to be honest.

Can't be fucked. Just go look for evidence your standard of living is massively better than it's ever been, it's difficult to miss.

News: grass is probably closer to "natural" than the American pine trees planted there 50 years ago to make work for dole bludgers.

And it will. As long as productivity continues to be rewarded and whining ingrates crying about how hard it all is in the face of spectacularly easy living conditions are ignored as the lunatic twats they are.

If you're that concerned about the wider community, why do you spend so much time talking shit on the interweb when you could be helping out somewhere?
