I don't think it would have made much difference to the average scot or the average Brit in day to day life. Scotland seemed to think they were getting a whole new political system - in reality it would have just meant more MP's and people feathering their own nests. England is Scotland's biggest trading partner, there would have not been a doomsday as the NO campaign suggested neither would there have been "freedom" for the average person on the street. The EU wouldn't have made it easy for Scotland to join - so some sort of partnership would be needed with what remained of the UK.
