I think that means we've found the problem, if it only works on prime that problem has not fixed itself...

So it sounds like there is a problem with the vacuum actuated fuel valve then, being a fairly old bike it might have got a bit of rust/gunk in the works, I'd recommend pulling it apart, cleaning the tank filters, full disassembly of the tap and components and check for buggered seals (often they get to this stage and develop leaks as well as clogs). Oh, first step though, pull the smaller tube from the petcock while the bike is running and make sure that has a little bit of suction on it (should be able to feel it grab onto the palm of your hand kinda thing).

Okay awesome, so i should see if the smaller tube has suction while running, and if it does that means its the fuel tap thats buggered? and if it doesn't have suction its a bigger problem??

You will be better off buying a diaphram kit new than a second hand tap assy.

That's the a/b kit haven't had time to find out if c is the same.
The fact that that kit is 20 pounds uk is $45 nzd indicates your local bike shop here should have a kit available for estimated $70.00 which I would call better value than $60 for second hand unit.

Note price is a guess only. Call you kwaka dealership and ask before doing anything else.
New complete tap assy on ebay are 200 nzd so that would indicate about a 1/3 for a recondition kit would be good value for money.

I'll eat my helmet if a local shop has a kit, all my experience with Kawasaki NZ is they don't giv a fuck about anything more than 10 years old.
Pull the old tap apart and check it over, if it restricts flow it is something stopping the diaphragm from pulling back.
If you have a hole in the diaphragm it will piss petrol in to the vac line and flood one cylinder.

It's worth putting a pic up of the fuel tap, it will be a common tap to Kawasakis of the era
