What to use to remove paint from plastic?

I had my KTM that was stolen nine years ago returned to me last week (). I'm chuffed but now I'm in the process of tidying it up and getting it looking how it should. One of the scummy pricks has painted the orange plastic tank a shitty gloss black. What products are safe to use on a plastic fuel tank? I heard a substitute for paint stripper is oven cleaner, any truth to this?

I guess you cant tell if they scuffed up the tank surface to paint it.

Could be a good time to get a long range tank perhaps?

I've already scraped a little paint off and it seems unscuffed. Thanks for the suggestion but I want spend as little as possible on this bike considering it cost me $10k after it was knicked. I think I'll take a look in Mitre 10 tomorrow and see what's on offer.

Without knowing what the paint is using a solvent is as likely to fuck the tank as the paint.

Try a heat gun first, keep it moving but try it on just a little patch first. Let it cool before you try to scrap the paint off, and don't use anything too sharp.

    Luck with it.

if its a plastic tank it'll be chemical resistant, so any paint stripper will work
its most likely a HDPE tank .

plastic fabricator/welder here if you need a hand ! will work for beer/bourbon/booze

Brake fluid takes paint of everything else, so...
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

This is a cool story. All that's missing is finding five bucks, and a dragon.

Paint the whole thing matte black and rock it like a real man!

let me guess: had finance on it and no insurance? Or insurance declined the claim?

Reckon they will reconsider the case now?
