I would like to meet up with some Nelson area riders

Hi all, I'm relatively new to Nelson, been here a year now but don't know many people yet. Just got my bike back on the road after many months. Its had a busted driveshaft and I've been short on cash, etc. Had my first ride in 6 months this past weekend, woohoo! I'm keen to catch up with some locals for some riding & socialising. Drop me a note, individuals, groups, whatever. Just looking for folks to share the experience with.

Cheers Jen. Not sure how I missed your reply, I didn't think anyone was going to answer lol.

Always keen for a blat so look us up if you're ever in Picton. I don't make it over to Nelson as much as I'd like but will be exploring some of the side track on the Maungatapu over a few evenings in the next few weeks. You're welcome to come if that's your sort of thing. There is also apparently some old train buried in the bush on the east side of the Whangamoas I'm keen to track down.

There is a few of us here. Keen on rides when I/we can.

Post or keep an eye on on Nelson rideouts thread on adv/dualpurpose bikes part, or go to advrider which is where most stuff seems to happen now anyway.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

Thanks for the invite Taz. I'd love to come searching for that train but I haven't had off-road/dual-sport tyres on the GS in years. Even when I had Tourances on it it wouldn't be my choice of bike to take on wet/slippy tracks in the bush. It weighs half a tonne, should have its own winch in case it slips off the track! Given a 650 or such I'd be keen (I have an XR400 but its off road only).

Road trips are all good and the reason I got the GS initially was because you can pack its own weight in camping gear on the back, put a bit of extra air in the tyres and stiffen up the rear shock a little and the beast hardly notices!

    Cheers!

Cheers Woodman. I'm not too well set up for off-roading. I've been running PR3's on the bike for the past 3 years or so. They're awesome road tyres and ok on decent metal roads in the dry but I'd rather wear out the edges (before the bottom!) on the seal than trash them on sharp stones. Although I would be keen for anything not too grueling!

All good man. Not doing much road stuff this summer myself but might have something more tarmac friendly again later in the year.

    Enjoy the sun
