Perhaps, or maybe putting themselves where the money is... given what we know about how intel agencies and organised crime often work together. They might be there as project managers making sure all the hardware gets shipped to the right places then on sold afterwards into black markets.
Its a pity Sons of Anarchy is in final season. Sutter could have had the Sons set the Irish and the Mexicans against each other then switch to a brief Jaunt in Syria and source new gun channel for the MC.

So boys, how's the business making tin foil hats going then?

Or are you too busy wearing your own merchandise?

This should solve all problems in the Middle East - no bikers or violence required.

The bullshit on the news tonight by CBS on 3.... re the botched recue of the journo hostages.

At about 1am two Marine Corp Osprey aircraft land and the marines raid the compound however their position is given away by maybe a dog barking and the operation goes haywire says reporter.

I think more like the massive noise from the two prop driven aircraft landing at 1am would have given it away.... not like Hollywood where everyone has their own private helipad to wake the neighbours.....

The Osprey's would have dropped the recovery team offset from the target location and they would have humped it the rest of the way in. That distance could have been as much as 10-20 km depending on a whole bunch of factors.

In the planning process they would have identified a suitable location to avoid giving the bad guys indicators.

This has been done thousands of times in the last 14 years.

There's a been a bunch of successful hostage rescues.....and there's been a small number that went pear shaped.

The official story on CBS showed them landing right next to the compound.... and I believe the yanks would have been dumb enough to do that.
They would not have risked ordinary soldiers (marines are not seals or delta force) humping 20km across unknown territory in a land occupied by warlords and terrorists camps.
USAF aircraft fling in from anywhere would not go unnoticed....

That being the case how do you explain the successful rescues - the ones where susprise was on the rescuers side?

Silent helicopters? Deaf and blind guards ??

The attempted rescue was run from the Pentagon. Should've left it to Bruce Willis and Hollywood.

    Tragic all round.
