Haha, you guys are funny.![]()
Forced air induction won’t make any difference until high speeds, but you don’t have a sealed airbox anyway so there can be no pressurisation. Can there?. . . No.
The only benefit can be cooler air, but more likely just the induction noise closer to your ears.
Many tests done & aerodynamics don’t count for squat until ~ 80kph & on short tracks we spend little time past there.
Weight however is king. That’s why my bike is so light. I weigh 75kg & I can’t do too much about that, but my bike is super lightweight.
Let’s assume that your bike makes 10hp & weighs 100kg with you on it (for ease of math).
That means your power to weight ratio is 0.1hp/kg
if you & the bike weigh 150kg it is 0.066hp/kg.
to get equal the first bike you would have to tune the power to 15hp for the same acceleration (making some assumptions).
Get the scales & calculators out guys & pay more attn at school.
oh yeah & if you are bitching about getting your engine in a large MB chassis then maybe you should get an RS. They don't exactly fall in -trust me on this.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
Thats what we want if you read back abit but they are bloody hard to find im not stripping my RS125 down for buckets cause its to mint and the MB100 chassis if you read the post recognise this nayone actually won the NZ 125GP title with a CR125 engine in it plus im not bitching just feeling abit annoyed at the timeOriginally Posted by F5 Dave

Hey Dave
fully with you about the weight thing thats why im trying to rid as much weight off my bike as possible, but the way the air box is designed on the fxr, there is no where for the air to get sucked except a 2 mm gap between the air filter and the tank, so i cut a hole in the air filter box and hot melt glued some 100mm pipe going into a scoop at the front of the bike and i do believe it made a difference. when i was doing time trials down my street in i got 1 second faster doing 100 metres(i did 6 runs then took average) just by putting the hole in the box but i havent gone out and tried it with the scoop though, will be interesting to see the difference.
Hey sounds good Glen Nathan thinks his CBR will kick your bikes ass now cause he has put a new Carb on it. I still think your bike will beat it will be good to watch you 2 racing hard out out there. And he is doing his MB100 motor right up I still have to get round to welding up my new brackets then test start it. Do you know if the motor has been run in or not

The RS chassis was designed with a CR125 engine to fit as that is what the early RS125 engine was. A modified CR125. Problem is due to their oddball narrow rear engine sprocket not much else fits without serious engineering.Originally Posted by Ivan
I put an MB100 in an RS chassis about 6 years ago now. It wasn’t a success & needs to be redone + the engine got killed in the process thus quashing my motivation. One day when I have some time I’ll finish it, things keep getting in the way though.
So what you are saying is that the airbox is restrictive. This isn’t surprising as it cuts down on noise. Further you’ve likely leaned the mixture & it was probably rich std bringing another increase. But you’re not ‘ramming’ air into it so don’t get excited about a scoop.Originally Posted by RG100!!
At least you are basing your decision on a fairly objective & measurable improvement.

Hey Dave,
You know so much about tuning on the buckets did you learn all that through the two stroke performance tuning book. Do you have a fleet of RS125 chassis if you do are you willing to sell any as I would really be interested in one they are so natural. You feel like the bike is made for you. Does anyone know how many rounds are left and does anyone know if the points have been updated yet
Heres a picture from the last meeting but keep in mind that it is copyright to NZMCNEWS nzmcn.tripod.com
