And add Bimota to that list now: http://www.crash.net/wsbk/news/19942...evo-entry.html

Shaping up to be an interesting series with potentially 9 different manufacturers on the grid!

The EVO rules have already been a success, after all, Bimota and MV Agusta haven't been in the championship for a long time and Eric Buell Racing never has been.

Well, sounds like WSBK will finally be getting a subscription deal just like MotoGP. At least Dorna is good for something......

So I'm guessing what happens is it'll be just like Motogp, Sky won't pay for WSBK and us Sky people will be left without, unless we pay Dorna to watch it on the computer ????

You'd never go hungry with Nigella Gaz.

    If that happens ,fuck Sky,fuck Dorna,fuck Spain,fuck everyone !
My opinion is that Skyy only shows a bunch of dudes standing around all day in sweaters, or dudes crashing into others while trying to hang onto some pill shapped ball, or a bunch of weirdo's walking around in polo shirts trying to whack a little wee ball into a slightly bigger hole............fuck that.

For me being able to watch what I want, when I want it, plus having all of the other races available to watch whenever I'm bored is worth the 100 euro a year or so, because I don't bother with anything but free-view on the TV.

This has me a bit nervous too, I really don't want to miss the racing but not sure if I can talk the other half into shelling out for subscriptions to WSBK and GP. WSBK alone would be easier as she has a "thing" for Tom Sykes.....

Ignore my suppos'd humerous rant there, but yes we should be worried. I guess they'll force us into it in the end.
I'm fortunate Geeen, I can piss off to as many GPs as I want or can afford. (she lets me ).
But it is still nice to sit with the "big screen"when it suits, Huh ?

Be still my beating heart. Sadly though there may be an issue over production numbers for homologation

Worldsbk.com announces the FIM official response to the discussion about Bimota participating in WSBK

After the distribution of a Press Release from the Team Alstare announcing their partnership with Italian Manufacturer Bimota, with the goal to participate in the WSBK Championship, and following media discussions about the possible Bimota homologation, Dorna WSBK Organization wish to inform on the official FIM statement:

“The FIM welcomes new motorcycle manufacturers wishing to participate in one or more FIM World Championships. With reference to the FIM Superbike World Championship, there are rules and requirements which have to be observed and fulfilled. As a result, the required minimum quantity of produced units necessary to obtain homologation are reviewed periodically to run parallel to the motorcycle market. As an illustration, the FIM and the Superbike Commission have in the past adjusted the minimum quantities of motorcycles to be produced to participate due to the worldwide economic market situation. Such a change was adopted in 2009. Another change was made due to the market situation in 2012 when the market situation for motorcycles in the sport section was of great concern. We have started discussions within the Superbike Commission to modify these numbers An official announcement will be made by the end of January.”

Surely the Homologation numbers would affect Eric Buell Racing too?? Someone would need a good hard kick in the nuts if those two manufacturers were excluded because of that.

Guess it depends on your definition of manufacturer, they do seem to be aware that tweaking that meaning to include a marketable field is a good idea.

The new on-going sales requirements are fairly prohibitive, but lower them too much and you'd have some entries of questionable value to the sport in there too.

Must admit although I don't expect EBR to do that well initially, given the significantly different design elements it'll be interesting to see where they're competitive and where they're not.

They're short on top end compared to almost everyone else, for example, but apparently the mid-range torque is phenomenal.

There only let down as last raced, is TOP END, and that will change after there backer has spent a ton on electronics. The handling of there bike is awsome as proven in the USA race scene, it monsters the japas it is racing against in terms of handling, kinda looks like a hybrid 250 Stroker with its handling characturistics

I had an 1125CR until recently, (and the 1190 is pretty much just an evolutionary step from that) and I didn't find a need for any more than 150hp, a simply stunning road bike engine. They will need more top end on the track, though.

I'd like to see them do well, if only for the positive effect it'd have on the cookie-cutter production bike market. And all things being equal they orta do good on the tighter tracks at least.
